Saturday in London

So one fine day in London we watched the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace get cancelled because of a little rain, then we took a boat on the Thames to the Globe Theater, but it wasn't open for tours because they were having a performance of King Lear, so we got back on the boat and rode to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Tower Bridge is the bridge everyone thinks is the London Bridge, but actually the London Bridge is a modern boring bridge. Isn't the original London Bridge in AZ? Then we went to St. Paul's Cathedral and coincidentally happened to be there just in time to go to Evensong, the choir was hypnotizing. Since we were in The City (the business district) and it was a weekend, the neighborhood was very quiet, but we finally found a lovely bar in which to sit and have a glass of wine. So by the time we got to the tube station to go home, we were properly relaxed...That's when we met the gentleman in the picture...

He was an employee of the Tube and as we went through the turnstile he asked where we were from, Texas? No, California.

Then can you tell me who this is?

And he sang Willie Nelson's You Were Always on My Mind, sounded just like him. We nailed it, so he tried again. This time it was Ring of Fire...sounded just like Johnny Cash. We nailed that one too, so he laid a little Neil Diamond on us...We talked for a while longer and then got on the tube and went home to dinner in a Barking pub called The Spotted Dog where we were entertained by a table full of lads singing Irish drinking songs together. They had had a pint or two. But so had we so it was all good...
